The business
Andromeda Translations was born out of a desire to practice all my professional skills under the same umbrella. As a translator, I find it extremely satisfying to puzzle out the difficult bits until the pieces fall into place; as an editor, I love figuring out the best version of the text on a small and large scale alike. The creativity and variety of this work is everything.
Even though Andromeda Translations has been built with a focus on the creative fields, I do offer translation and editing services for non-fiction document translation as well. I am especially happy to do document jobs for non-profit organisations and other small business owners.
The values that direct my business life as much as my personal life are based on intersectional feminism:
- equality
- accessibility
- anti-racism
- anti-homofobia and anti-transfobia
- sustainability in all areas of private and public life, including social, financial and ecological sustainability
My goal is for Andromeda Translations to be a language-service provider known not only for end-product quality, but for a steadfast values-first approach, strong collaborative relationships, and the love of the game shining through.
The owner
I am Ele (they/he), a translator and language professional by trade and a Tampere University MA graduate in multilingual communication and translation studies by degree.
Ever since childhood, I have passionately loved reading, and so I have made my career working in literature. I am particularly fond of queer topics and marginalised writers of all stripes, being queer and disabled myself.
To counter the desk job, I enjoy aerial acrobatics and singing. I live in Joensuu, Finland with my partner and our rescue dog Tatti.
